Question: Seeing as your songs are so referential, do you think the listener suffers who doesn't know the source material?
Alasdair Roberts: Not at all... I don't believe that 'understanding' in that sense is essential for the enjoyment of art...
Nowadays the clues behind any 'obscure' references within the work are only a mouseclick away anyway.
